Studies organisation in Winter Semester 2020/2021 UPDATE

Due to the fact that it is necessary to plan the academic activities at Warsaw University of Technology in advance, the authorities of the University present the draft plan of studies organisation in the winter semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.

The information has been provided on the basis of the current knowledge about the risk of COVID-19 pandemics and taking account the existing guidelines. The planned scenario may be updated depending on the development of the pandemic.

Research, administrative and didactic activities at the University will be organised in a way which guarantees respecting the sanitary regime.

The didactic process will be carried out in a mixed system. Classes such as e.g. lectures, which involve a huge concentration of people in one place and their movement in passageways, will be carried out online. The form of other classes was planned according to one of three scenarios presented below, taking into account the differenes in studying modes adjusted to the requirements of different faculties, programmes and didactic cycle stages.

The table presented in the annex has been prepared following consultation with faculties’ authorities.

  1. Remote mode [R]
All classes will be carried out remotely, using the tools for online communication. On-campus classes will be held to the minimum extent (up to 5% of all classes), only if completing the studies cycle in the required time would not be possible if they are not organised.
In the case of this mode, students are not required to be present at the University (despite the minimum, specified time for selected groups).
  2. Mixed remote mode [MR]
The majority of courses will be carried out remotely. On-campus classes (up to 20% of all classes) will be carried out in the case of courses which are of key importance for a given programme of studies and which integrate knowledge and enable to enjoy the direct contact in a most effective way. This mode enables to group classes in blocks in order to reduce contact between people at the University.
In the case of this mode, detailed requirements regarding the presence of students at the University will be specified by the faculties.
  3. Mixed on-campus mode [MOC]
Lectures, classes attended by large groups and other forms of studying, where the direct interpersonal contact is not necessary, will be conducted online. All other classes, during which the sanitary regime may be preserved, will be conducted in the on-campus mode.
In the case of this mode, permanent presence of students at the University is required.
