Mechanical Engineering (specialisation: Advanced Machinery and Vehicles Engineering)

M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering

specialisation: Advanced Machinery and Vehicles Engineering

Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering

Duration: 4 semesters

Starts in: October

The Mechanical Engineering field of study is intended for the first-cycle graduates who wish to expand their knowledge of basic engineering subjects and develop an interdisciplinary, systemic approach to solving technical problems, the ability to use modern tools of computer-aided design, manufacturing, operation and recycling processes in the field of vehicles and construction machinery.

The program enables students to gain advanced knowledge in the field of analytical and numerical modelling as well as the building of vehicles and construction machinery using advanced design and calculation tools. The education program includes elements of designing load-bearing structure components using stress analysis and researching drive systems based on mechanical, electric, hydraulic and pneumatic drives of machinery and vehicles.

The education system in the field of Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in Advanced Machinery and Vehicles Engineering enables the comprehensive engineering knowledge in the field of general machine design.

Examples of modules:

• Advanced applied mechanics

• Selected topics of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics

• Knowledge-based systems in engineering design

• Modelling and testing of machines

• Vehicle dynamics

• Numerical methods in mechanics

• Modelling of automobile suspensions

• Smart materials and structures

The graduate can:

- create analytical and numerical models of machine and vehicle components and analyse the research results;

- validate the parameters of the developed mathematical and numerical models of machines and vehicles;

- optimise according to the adopted criterion the structural elements of machinery and vehicles using computer techniques.

Career opportunities:

- automotive industry in the field of design and construction of vehicle bodies, drive systems, engines and classic, electric or hybrid drive systems;

- machinery industry related to construction machinery and material handling;

- research and development offices of companies in the automotive and machinery industries as well as research institutes.
